WAHWN appoints Stepping In programme manager
Tom Bevan has been appointed the programme manager of WAHWN’s new workforce diversity programme, Stepping In.
Tom, a freelance theatre and live events producer from Cardiff, will lead our training and mentoring programme for four mentees, funded by the Arts Council Wales Arts Health and Wellbeing Lottery and delivered in partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board; Hywel Dda University Health Board; PeopleSpeakUp, Caerphilly County Borough Council Arts Development, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Cardiff School of Art.
“I am thrilled to be working with WAHWN on the Stepping In project, bringing skills and experience as a Producer and Project Manager in the theatre and live arts sector,” said Tom, who is passionate about theatre .
“We're on a very exciting arts in health journey in Wales and I feel honoured to be holding space for this vital programme and to be able to learn from the brilliant work of the WAHWN team and all the members.”
Stepping In has been designed to respond to a lack of diversity within the arts and health creative workforce. It aims to nurture a cohort of practitioners to deliver projects in healthcare settings who share the lived experience of people from minoritised communities. Tom brings a wealth of diversity and inclusion experience, including managing Fio’s ARISE Wales Creatives – a training course for creatives who are underrepresented in the Welsh arts scene.
“We’re thrilled to have Tom on board as we kickstart what we hope is the first of many iterations of this programme,” said Angela Rogers, Executive Director of WAWHN. “We believe in a sector that works for everyone and are committed to playing a role in broadening access to the arts and health workforce. With Tom’s professional experience to drawn upon, we can’t wait to see what the mentees achieve.”
