Dear colleagues,

The Summer holidays have arrived and for many of us that will mean extra juggling with childcare, or perhaps it might bring some extra time to rest or go on an adventure! August will be a quieter month for our team as many of us take some well-earned rest and take time with families. So we won’t send out a newsletter until September.

We are delighted to share our NEW-style newsletter with you with some great updates on our website. If you have any feedback on this we would love to hear from you – email info@wahwn.cymru.  If you want to add events or opportunities to the website, register as a member on www.wahwn.cymru, add a Member Profile and then you can add Opportunities & Events to the website directly as a way of sharing your work with the network.

Looking ahead to the Autumn we will launch our How Ya Doing? #2 artists wellbeing programme in September. Thanks to funding from the Baring Foundation, we are running a 2 year programme to develop the wellbeing offer for artists, particularly around mental health provision. Join us on 21st September for our Network Meeting to find out more information about this. Book your place here.

We host our inaugural Arts & Mental Health conference in Newport on 4th October. The demand for tickets has been immense! We released additional tickets and increased our programme, and we also plan to livestream the main panel events on the day too. So, if you missed out on a ticket this time, keep an eye on our social media for information about the livestream link.

We are delighted to announce that we were successful in our recent application to Arts Council Wales, Arts & Health Lottery Fund for a scoping project on artists training and mentoring needs, particularly around mental health – a need which has been expressed to us by many artists, arts organisations and health boards over the past 6 months.

The next round for Arts Council Arts & Health Lottery Funding opens on 16th August and closes on 20th September. The fund now contains a priority around creative nature. More information here.

We still have a couple of Go & See Micro Grants available – if you have an idea for a visit or some training that will support your practice in Arts & Health, particularly if there is an environmental them or focus, please get your applications in. More information here.

We have been working with 64 Million Artists again to support The January Challenge in Wales for January 2024. They have an opportunity for 3 Wales-based Creativity Champions to join their team. Read more in their callout here.

We are doing a snapshot-survey for our members this Summer to find out about who you are supporting with your arts programmes. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete and will help us to articulate the need for future funding so we can continue to support our members. Click here to complete it.

Wishing you some slower days this month and looking forward to catching up again in September,

Onwards and Upwards,
Angela
