Weave Event Assistant - Role Description
Events Assistants play an important role creating a friendly, engaging, and informative experience for delegates who attend Weave. Our Volunteer Event Assistants are a vital part of our team – there are only 4 members of staff in WAHWN, so our volunteers will more than double our capacity to welcome and look after delegates at the event.
What you’ll do:
- Help to set-up for the event and activities by setting up tables, chairs, signage and equipment
- Providing a warm welcome to visitors
- Explaining the event or activity so that visitors know where to go and what is on offer
- Helping on the registration desk
- General stewarding duties
Where you’ll be:
- You will be assigned key areas to look after each day – at least 1 volunteer per space.
Time Commitment:
- Monday 8th - arrive 9am (event starts 11.15am, event ends 5.30pm)
- Tuesday 9th September – arrive 8.30am (event starts 9am, event ends 4.30pm)
- Induction: 1 hour online
Qualities & Skills you need:
- Friendly
- Organised
- Reliable
- Calm
- Good communicator
- Bi-lingual Welsh/English speaker is desirable
- Some Breakout Rooms will use the projector/laptop – IT skills to oversee this will be useful
Training and Support:
A member of WAHWN staff will run an online induction session in August. This will be repeated twice if necessary to ensure everyone can attend. Dates TBC. It is essential that all volunteers attend this induction.
Travel Costs:
You can claim up to £50 renumeration for your travel costs. You will need to submit an invoice with your bank details for this amount after the conference.
Practical considerations:
- You will need to wear a Weave T-Shirt for the 2 days (we will supply these)
- You will be based in one area for up to 1.5 hours at a time
- You will have allocated break times to ensure there are always some volunteers on duty
- You will need to complete some basic Induction tasks before attending, such as reading the risk assessment, familiarising yourself with the programme etc.
