Imagine Colwyn Bay Reminiscence Project Artist Residency Introduction It has been identified through locality data that the number of people living with Dementia in the Bay of Colwyn area is almost double the Welsh average. Conwy Culture Centre has initiated a project to update museum and archive handling / reminiscence collections. 12 collections are now available for individuals or groups to loan. These collections are themed and linked to particular subjects and eras. Currently the collections cover through to the 1950’s. People living with dementia and people working alongside them have highlighted that a lot of provision is geared towards older generation 75 +. So we have identified a need for collections that meet the needs of younger people also recognising the fact that reminiscence is enjoyable and healthy for all ages and that the timeframe is constantly moving. Brief The purpose of this commission is to contract an Artist to work collaboratively as part of a small team to co-produce reminiscence collections themed according to the 60s, 70s and 80s. Artists to use objects to trigger discussion and creativity. This will provide inspiration and content for the development of physical reminiscence handling collections. Requirements of this commission include:  Creative output to be inspired by objects, images, sounds relating to eras  Creative process to encourage dialogue with participants and support the development of reminiscence collections relating to eras  Collect / record evaluation information  Available to deliver sessions between March to October 2020  Experience of facilitating workshops within Community and healthcare settings  Inclusive and engaging working practices  Experience of working with older people and people living with Dementia Welsh language desirable but not essential  Public liability insurance To apply: Please clearly mark your application ‘Artist Residency – Imagine Reminiscence Project’ and send:  A copy of your CV  Details / examples of relevant experience  An outline plan of how you would approach the residency what the creative outputs would be Costing breakdown which includes:  Number of contact hours for residency  Materials Total available budget: £2000 has been allocated to the Artist Residency placement, inclusive of materials, preparation, travel, attending planning meetings and any other costs.
