Content:
This training day for Primary School teachers aims to share Eleni’s creative dance methodology arming you with an array or practical and instantly usable concepts and ideas that are accessible to your pupils, that can be easily adapted to link with a range of curriculum topics and are fun!
Topics we will explore during the day include:
- Linking Dance with the curriculum
- Developing children’s physical literacy
- Creating a simple dance performance
- Structuring a dance class
- Support with choosing appropriate music
About the facilitator:
Jo trained as a contemporary dance artist and completed a BPA with Honours at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. She then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Professional Contemporary Dance, during which she worked and performed with Scottish Dance Theatre. Since graduating, Jo has worked as a performer with Arcane Dance Company, choreographer and teacher gaining a wealth of experience within professional dance, education and dance within the community.
In 2010, Jo completed the Graduate Teaching Programme gaining qualified teaching status. She then worked in education within a range of secondary and primary schools across Manchester and Cheshire delivering dance across all key stages. Jo recently embarked on a career change from full time education and has now commenced a more diverse role as a dance teacher working with a wide range of ages and abilities, choreographer and education consultant delivering dance specific teacher training.
Dance is and will always be something Jo is passionate about and she believes that it is important for everyone to have the opportunity to have it in their lives.
Eleni is - a not-for-profit organisation formed by passionate arts and dance professionals dedicated to providing meaningful dance experiences to communities throughout North East Wales

Ynglŷn â'r cyflwynydd:
Hyfforddodd Jo fel artist dawns gyfoes a chwblhaodd radd BPA gydag Anrhydedd yn Ysgol Ddawns Gyfoes y Gogledd. Yna aeth ymlaen i gwblhau Diploma mewn Dawns Gyfoes Broffesiynol i Raddedigion, lle bu’n gweithio ac yn perfformio gyda Scottish Dance Theatre. Ers graddio mae Jo wedi gweithio fel perfformwraig gyda Chwmni Dawns Arcane, coreograffydd ac athrawes gan ennill cyfoeth o brofiad ym meysydd dawns broffesiynol, addysg a dawns yn y gymuned.
Yn 2010, cwblhaodd y Rhaglen Addysgu i Raddedig gan ennill statws addysgu cymwys. Yna bu’n gweithio ym myd addysg mewn ystod o ysgolion uwchradd a chynradd ledled Manceinion a Swydd Gaer yn cyflwyno dawns ar draws pob cyfnod allweddol. Yn ddiweddar, newidiodd Jo ychydig ar lwybr ei gyrfa o addysg amser llawn ac mae bellach wedi dechrau rôl fwy amrywiol fel athrawes ddawns yn gweithio gydag ystod eang o oedrannau a galluoedd, coreograffydd ac ymgynghorydd addysg yn darparu hyfforddiant penodol ym maes dawns i athrawon.
Mae dawns yn rhywbeth y mae Jo yn angerddol yn ei gylch ac mae’n credu ei fod yn bwysig i bawb gael y cyfle i’w brofi yn eu bywydau.
Sefydliad nid er elw yw Eleni a ffurfiwyd gan weithwyr celfyddydau a dawns proffesiynol a llawn angerdd sydd wedi ymrwymo i ddarparu profiadau dawns ystyrlon i gymunedau ledled Gogledd Ddwyrain Cymru.
