Art for Lifes Sake Evaluator Call Out

Location: South Wales | Start Date: May 2026

Summary:

Art for Life’s Sake is a hospital-based arts programme supporting patients awaiting discharge. It aims to improve wellbeing and engagement during a vulnerable transition period. An evaluator is sought to deliver a light-touch, evidence-based assessment.

Content:

Art for Life’s Sake is a 5-month pilot programme delivering creative arts interventions within three community hospitals in Rhondda Cynon Taf in partnership with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board supported by Arts Council of Wales'Arts, Health & Wellbeing Lottery funding .

The project focuses primarily on patients in the transition phase of care – those who are medically optimised but awaiting discharge, transfer, or onward care. This period can often involve uncertainty, reduced stimulation, and increased risk of boredom, isolation, or anxiety.

More Than Music Cymru is seeking a suitably experienced evaluator to produce a clear, proportionate and evidence-based evaluation of the project. The evaluation should focus primarily on patient wellbeing and engagement outcomes, while also gathering insight into how creative activity functions within the hospital environment. Recognising the constraints of hospital settings — including short patient stays, fluctuating capacity, and ethical considerations — the evaluation should be light-touch, realistic and ethically appropriate.

Timescale Appointment: As soon as possible

Evaluation period: Start date May 2026 - aligned with project delivery (5 months)

Deadline: 4th May 2026
