WAHWN celebrates new collaboration with Welsh GP network

WAHWN has partnered with Deep End Network Cymru – a Welsh network of GPs, health professionals and partners focused on supporting people living in Wales’ most deprived communities– to advance creative health and tackle health inequalities in Wales.
The new collaboration aims to introduce more healthcare practitioners to the benefits of creative health care at a time when Wales’ health system seeks to strengthen its prevention, wellbeing and community-rooted care – in line with national policy priorities, including A Healthier Wales and the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
“We're so excited about this partnership," said Angela Rogers, WAHWN Executive Director. "“With primary care teams within Deep End Network Cymru working at the sharpest edge of health inequalities, this feels like a timely opportunity to highlight how the arts, movement and creative practice can support both patients and practitioners.
"It will introduce more healthcare practitioners to the benefits of creative health, support national wellbeing ambitions and strengthen cross-sector collaboration at a time when innovative, preventative solutions are urgently needed."
To celebrate the new partnership, Deep End Network Cymru will host an introductory movement for wellbeing session by Dr Thania Acarón of The Body Hotel at its December round-table meeting. Dr Acarón will also share insights from her Body Questions in Practice publication, which explores how movement can inform decision-making.
WAHWN looks forward to building on this partnership and continuing to champion the role of arts, culture and movement in improving health and wellbeing across Wales.
