Freelance Artists Questionnaire for people working in health and community wellbeing settings.
Organisations Questionnaire for people or organisations (NHS, Local Authority, Third Sector, Arts organisations, etc.) who commission freelance artists to working in health and community wellbeing settings.
As interest in arts, health and wellbeing continues to grow in Wales, it's important that we find new ways to inspire and nurture artists to work in health and community wellbeing settings.
This is a quickly developing area with many potential career opportunities for artists from all disciplines to make a real difference to people and communities. But how do artists acquire the confidence and skills to work effectively and safely in this sector?
With support from the Arts Council of Wales, WAWHN are working with freelance consultants Rosie Dow and Damian Hebron this Autumn to learn more about:
1. Skills: what skills do artists need to develop to meet the growing demand in arts, health and wellbeing, and how do these vary by setting, type of project and health outcome/s?
2. Training: how do artists currently develop the skills to work in health and wellbeing settings and what are the barriers? What training and other routes could be developed?
3. Diversity: what are the barriers to starting out in arts, health, and wellbeing for artists from diverse backgrounds and what are the opportunities?
We want to use what we learn here to build new programmes for skills development in the future, so it’s important that the recommendations from this scoping work are informed by what you tell us is most needed.
We are therefore inviting freelance artists and the organisations that commission them to share your views in one of our short ‘coffee break’ questionnaires (these should take 5-10 mins) by 2nd Oct 2023.
