Contract: Freelance position, 24 months
Fee: £30,000 total (£250 per day, 1.5 days per week)
Hours: 11 hours per week

About the National Arts in Hospitals Network 
The National Arts in Hospitals Network (NAHN), established in April 2024 and hosted by NHS Charities Together, is the membership network for all arts managers and coordinators working in UK hospitals. We aim to share best practice, build knowledge and evidence, celebrate excellence and develop a national programme.

Our vision is for every patient, visitor and staff member in UK hospitals to have access to high-quality, impactful arts interventions to support recovery and wellbeing. We want to embed high quality arts programmes in every hospital in the country, using an evidence-based quality framework, to improve the environment and experience of being in hospital for every patient, visitor and staff member.

About NHS Charities Together
NHS Charities Together is the national independent charity caring for the NHS. It works with a network of over 230 NHS Charities across the UK, to help the NHS go further for staff and patients.

NHS Charities Together provide governance and financial oversight of NAHN, supporting them to deliver their vision.

The Role
The NAHN Co-ordinator will support the network and help it grow. You will support the directors in the management and administration of the network, working closely with NHS Charities Together staff including The Member Events and Partnerships Manager and Membership Officer.

Reporting to: Directors, NAHN
Accountable to: NAHN steering group

Key responsibilities

Event and project management

  • Booking venues, speakers and lunches for meetings where required
  • Assisting the directors and external contractors in project management of national projects

Administrative support

  • Liaising with directors and event hosts to agree and create agendas for network meetings
  • Circulating agendas for network meetings
  • Attending network meetings and taking minutes for distribution to members
  • Taking minutes and maintaining action logs for steering group meetings (four per year)
  • Taking minutes and maintaining action logs for NAHN and NHS Charities Together business
    meetings
  • Booking director travel and accommodation for NAHN business meetings
  • Updating and maintaining the NAHN website
  • Supporting with the publication of an annual report and set of accounts
  • Liaising with NHS CT around the management of member contacts database
  • Supporting fundraising bids for national projects through NHS CT Communications
  • Updating NAHN website
  • Managing NAHN social media
  • Producing publicity material
  • Dealing with member enquiries to info@nahn.org
  • Supporting sector surveys

Additional responsibilities

  • Providing reports to the directors as and when required
  • Regularly using computer software to develop and create reports and documents
  • Generating information, including compiling information from a variety of sources an analysing data


Person specification

Essential requirements, knowledge and qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English, Maths (A-C grades or equivalent)
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience working at a similar level in specialist area (e.g. Project Management, Arts) or equivalent breadth of experience and training acquired through a combination of qualifications, training and on-the-job experience in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of arts and creativity role in healthcare

Experience

  • Experience of general administrative work or able to demonstrate previous work, paid or
    voluntary
  • Experience working in arts and health
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office packages

Skills and abilities

  • Good written and verbal communication via telephone, face to face and email
  • Ability to understand the importance of confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent attention to detail

Personal qualities

  • Evidence of good attitude and behaviour in the workplace
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and flexible
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team

Desirable requirements

  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment
