Freelance Evaluator: Arts Referral Pilot within the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS)

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Evaluator to design and deliver a robust mixed-method evaluation framework for this pilot programme.
Newport Live and The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre are working in partnership with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) to develop and pilot an innovative Arts Referral programme integrated into the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) in Newport.
Content:
This pioneering project will scope, design and test a creative health pathway within NERS, offering supervised therapeutic creative activity to adults experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation, and related health inequalities. The pilot will generate evidence on whether creative interventions can become a viable and scalable component of NERS in Wales.
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Evaluator to design and deliver a robust mixed-method evaluation framework for this pilot programme.
The evaluation will draw on:
- Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs)
- Qualitative interviews and/or focus groups
- Reflective learning with partners and the lead artist
Contract Details
- Freelance contract
- Approx. 10 days
- Fee: £2,500
- Combination of in-person (Newport) and remote working
- Project dates: March – October 2026
